AVIcode .NET Enterprise MP for Ops Mgr 2007

We are doing beta testing of AVIcode .NET Enterprise MP for Ops Mgr 2007 and that’s a killer. If you have critical .NET applications in you environment you must check this one out. With this MP in place you can follow performance and exceptions and as an operations guy it gives you something to bring back to developers when your apps won’t perform. I will come back on more information regarding this as we progress.

Xian Network Manager Io Beta

I just got my Xian Network Manager Io Beta for download. So I will test this on our LAB environment of Ops Mgr 2007 RC2. Look out for some beta reports as we progress.

No data in ACS Reports.

I had a problem with the ACS part of Ops Mgr 2007. I have a distributed Ops Mgr 2007 RC2 environment with 2 Management servers, one RMS and one for ACS Collector. When I enabled the ACS forwarder I didn’t know that you have to make an override choice to select the other Management server (not the RMS) to be chosen as ACS collector for the selected server. There is a update in the help file that comes with the IDS distribution of Ops Mgr 2007 describing the solution.

1. In the Actions pane, under Health Service Tasks, click Enable Audit Collection. The Run Task - Enable Audit Collection dialog box displays.
2. In the Task Parameters section, click Override. The Override Task Parameters dialog box displays.
3. In the Override the task parameters with the new values section, click the CollectorServer parameter; in the New Value column, type the FQDN of the ACS collector; and then click Override.

In the Ops Mgr 2007 RC2 build you have to manually create a new State view to find the Enable ACS forwarder tasks, in the IDS release there is an update to the Agent Health State view under Operations Manager/Agent. This view now has two panes, and the actions in this procedure are performed in the right pane

Health Service name change

In the new pre-release of Ops Mgr 2007 with name IDS the MOM Health Service have changed name to OpsMgr Health Service. So thats the name we should expect in the up coming RTM relese of Ops Mgr 2007.
