Some monitors were missing in the earlier releses of the SQL Server MP. Amongst them the Blocking Analysis for SQL Server 2000. This is fixed with the latest release of the MP. This release is higher then the one released together with Ops Mgr 2007 SP1 RC.(6.0.6246.0)

Overview
Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 (DPM) is a server software application that enables data protection and recovery for protected computers within Active Directory domains.

With the DPM Management Pack, an administrator can centrally monitor the state of data protection and recovery for multiple DPM servers and protected computers. The Management Pack also monitors key health and performance indicators on DPM servers.

For protected computers, the DPM Management Pack monitors the state of connectivity with DPM, data protection and recovery operations.

SQL Server Block Analysis for SQL 2000 is missing in Ops Mgr 2007

If you are used to use the SQL Server Block Analysis in MOM 2005 for your SQL 2000 servers you will be disapointed with the SQL MP in Ops Mgr 2007. The SQL Server Block Analysis is missing for SQL 2000 servers in the SQL MP. "Blocking SPIDs" monitor is implemented in the SQL MP for Ops Mgr 2007 but just for SQL 2005 servers. The documentation for the SQL MP does not take any note on this. Reading the documentation lets you think that this function is implemented for both SQL 2000 AND SQL 2005. In the "Key Monitoring Scenario" part of the SQL MP Guide the first scenario is "Block analysis". The only scenario that is noted for just SQL 2005 is "Long-running agent jobs" and this makes you think that the rest is for both versions. We have re-deployed MOM 2005 agents to our SQL 2000 servers to be able to deliver this monitoring for our customers.
